Threlkeld village is three miles from Keswick situated at the foot of Blencathra mountain, which is very popular with fell walkers. The village is steeped in history with its church dating back to 1573 and its pubs back to 1688.

The cottage is ideally located for those looking for a picturesque base from which to explore the northern Lakes and fells with many walks and cycling tracks right on the doorstep.

There are lovely riverside walks and an old railway line providing a pleasant way to cycle or walk to Keswick.

There are two good pubs, both serving excellent food, within a short stroll from the cottage. There is also a children's play area nearby. For keen golfers, just across the road is Keswick golf club, which is open to visitors.

The popular market town of Keswick, on the edge of Derwent Water, right in the heart of the English Lake District, has many attractions including a tropical leisure swimming pool with wave machine, 'black hole' slide and well equipped gym, a motor museum, the famous Theatre by the Lake, parks as well as many speciality shops, cafes, cinema, pubs and restaurants.

With its picturesque setting and proximity to Keswick and with Derwent Water, Thirlmere and Bassenthwaite lakes close by, this is a ideal holiday base, from which to explore the breathtaking scenery of the Lake District National Park.
