The Den is an ideal base for those who would like an affordable holiday base without sacrificing the comforts of home or for business people who would prefer independent accommodation (where their young family might join them from time to time) to a long stay in a hotel.

It is situated in the hamlet of Knapp at the edge of a large wood with miles of walking but just 3 miles from junction 12 of the M3. It is a 15mins drive from Winchester station (55 mins to London). Southampton Airport is also 15 minutes away. The local bus and train-bus service is close by.

The footpaths in Ampfield Wood connect with the National long-distance paths: Monarch's Way, Test Way and Clarendon Way as well as the local Keeble Way.
Within a short drive is the New Forest, Salisbury, Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, the Solent, many seaside resorts and tourist sights.

The Den is within easy walking distance from Italian, hotel and pub restaurants. It is large, light and airy with birch wood floors and furniture and ceiling spotlights. There is one large space with comfortable sitting, dining, kitchen and sleeping areas accessed by a private staircase. It has a private en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and vanitory sink unit. There is a double bed and two fully sprung, top quality, sofa beds giving accommodation for 2 adults and up to 2 young children.

The Den is set away from the main house with its own access and parking with views across to trees and lawn, all in a quiet leafy setting.
The studio apartment is well appointed and includes the following facilities:
Gas central heating, dish washer, micro-wave/oven/grill, ceramic hob, TV, video, CD Hi-Fi, DVD player, Freeview decoder, fridge freezer, washer dryer, private off road parking, hair dryer, linen and towels supplied.

Please note that The Den is a no smoking apartment. Pets cannot be accommodated. It is on the first floor accessed by an outside staircase that might be difficult for some to negotiate.

Directions
From junction 12 of the M3:
Turn westwards following the signs to Chandlers Ford. This will take you, via a roundabout or two, back over the motorway to a roundabout signed to Ampfield. (These are all within a very short distance around the junction).
Take the Ampfield exit, Holcombe Road, and follow it to the cross roads at the end (about a mile or so). Go across the junction into Hook Road. At the end of Hook Road turn left at the T Junction by the Hotel (again about a mile) onto the A3090.
After about half a mile, having passed the church and then school on the right, you will see Knapp Lane on the right, immediately past the War Memorial. Turn into Knapp Lane. The Den can be found directly in front of you by going into the first drive on the left, Birch House. Parking and the stairs are to the right of the building.

By Public Transport:
From either Winchester or Romsey Stations catch the 66, x66 or SW Trains buss service to Ampfield. Get off at Ampfield School. Knapp Lane is by the War memorial and village school. The Den is in the grounds of Birch House which is the first on the left in Knapp Lane.

Pricing and Opening Times
