Cottage's own web site
A 200 year old listed cottage located near village centre with modern facilities and tranquil secluded gardens.

Galloway Cottage is centrally situated for your holiday in the Galloway countryside. Located in Birtwhistle Street, (named after the local Mill owner and mentioned by Robert Burns in one of his poems), Galloway Cottage has a full range of modern amenities to make your self catering holiday as carefree as possible.

A dishwasher, microwave cooker, modern electric oven with radiant hob and washing machine are all available in the kitchen/dining area. The relaxing living room has television, DVD player, video recorder and stereo/radio systems along with a selection of films, books and games. A variety of local tourist information is also available.
Both bedrooms have large wardrobes and attractive peaceful modern decor. Soft furnishings are in cream and brown with fitted oatmeal carpets.

Gatehouse of Fleet has a challenging nine hole golf course, (with magnificent views over the sea), tennis courts and bowling green. Garries Park is just two minutes walk from the cottage where children can let off steam and the annual Torchlight Procession ends with a huge bonfire.

Walkers will find Ben John and Rutherford's Monument exceptionally rewarding with views to the Isle of Man and across the Galloway countryside. Several beaches are easily reached by car or alternatively a level walk through the Cally Woods to Sandgreen.

The Mill on The Fleet a restored cotton mill for which Galloway Cottage was built to house workers, is now a visitor's centre with a shop and riverside cafe.

Other local places of interest include Cardoness Castle, a 15th century six storey fortified tower overlooking Fleet Bay and Cally Gardens a specialist perennial plant nursery housed within an 18th century walled garden.

Further afield Loch Ken offers a variety of water sport experiences and the Gem Rock Museum at Creetown is a fun and relaxing experience for all ages.

With the Artist's town of Kirkcudbright only 7 miles away, Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town, about 30 minutes away and the picturesque Portpatrick within easy striking distance Galloway Cottage makes the ideal base for your holiday.
