Tyas Cottage is a grade II listed 18th century cottage, situated in Merrydale, which is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, because of its flora and fauna.
There is abundant bird life in the area, including kingfishers, herons and sparrow hawks.
Near Marsden Moors (National Trust), the canal and Standedge Tunnel.
Television series 'Where The Heart Is' and 'Last of The Summer Wine' are filmed in the area.
The cottage is beautifully furnished, mainly with antiques, including a Georgian mahogany four poster bed, with carved ceiling.
There is a spiral staircase, with the benefit of an Add-on gate etc to make the staircase safe for toddlers.
In addition to the private patio, there is a large shared garden that includes a mill pond, waterfall and stream (featured in the magazine "20 Beautiful Gardens")
