Thyme Cottage
Holiday Cottage: 4085 Derbyshire

Nr. Bakewell
English Tourist Board:   4 star
Hidden away in a quiet corner of Youlgrave, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, 200-year-old Thyme Cottage has been lovingly restored to a high standard, combining modern amenities with old-world charm to create a delightful and comfortable holiday home. The cottage is situated down a quiet laneway on the brow of beautiful Bradford Dale, with superb walking country accessible in all directions from the doorstep.

The porch provides storage space for boots and coats, and leads to an open-plan living room with charming sitting-room, dining area and kitchen. Ceiling and wall beams, stone fireplace with wood-burning stove, oak panelling and antique furniture create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Amenities include quality sofa-bed, TV/ DVD/VCR, radio/cassette/CD player, and dining area accommodating up to four guests. The well-equipped kitchen has ample fitted storage units, electric cooker with extractor hood, microwave, washer/dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.

Open-tread wood stairs lead to first-floor landing, double bedroom, bathroom and separate WC with hand-basin. The bedroom is prettily furnished with super-king bed (separates into two singles), antique oak bedside and dressing tables and built-in wardrobe. The bathroom is well fitted, with bath and power-shower over, pedestal basin, shaver point, extractor fan, heated towel rail and utility storage.

Double-glazing, full gas central heating and insulation make Thyme Cottage snug in cold weather, and refreshingly cool in summer. All utilities, first basket of logs, linen and towels are provided free of charge. A cot and high chair are available for babies under two. Children over ten are also welcome.

Visitor attractions such as Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House, Arbor Low standing stones, Bakewell, Peak Steam Railway, Rowsley Shopping Village and Cauldwell's Mill are all within a ten-minute drive.

Eyam Hall, Crich Tramway Museum, the National Stone Centre, Carsington Water, Blue John Mines, Peak Cavern and Buxton Opera House are all within half an hours drive.

In an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lathkill Dale, Dovedale and Monsall Dale are all within easy reach. Two nearby cycle tracks, part of the National Cycle Network, enable visitors to hire bikes and explore the spectacular scenery of the White Peak. More rugged walking can be found to the north in the High Peak.
