Mel House Cottages comprises four comfortable properties (sleeping 3-6 Guests) sited in the centre of our village. An Indoor Heated Pool, Spa and Sauna is exclusively available to our Guests. The Village Pub, duck pond and play area are all nearby.

These are attractive fully-equipped holiday cottages in converted stone stables and granary with stabling and paddocks for DIY livery by guests, set in 2 acres above picturesque Newtondale. Centrally located in a popular and attractive village in the North York Moors National Park with large village green, pond and the White Swan Inn.

MALLARD (3 bedrooms: Sleeps 6 in 5 beds)
Tastefully pine-furnished two-storey Cottage, the ground floor offers open plan and spacious Sitting Room, with a wood-burning stove set in a stone fireplace.
The fully-fitted Kitchen is separated from the Dining area by a peninsula unit with cupboards under.
Three cosy Bedrooms - one Double and two Twin - and two Bathrooms.

SWIFT (3 bedrooms: Sleeps 5 in 4 beds)
Very attractive ground floor conversion of previous Stables, having exposed beams and a feature stone wall in the Sitting Room / Dining Room and wood-burning stove.
Separate fully-fitted Kitchen.
Three Bedrooms - one Double, one Twin and one Single - plus a Bathroom and a 'Wet Room'.

OWL (2 bedrooms: Sleeps 4 in 3 beds)
Below Granary, an attractively furnished and readily accessible Ground Floor Apartment with no internal steps (so possibly more suitable for both families with young children and the less mobile) having an open plan Sitting Room with Dining Area and fully-fitted Kitchen. One Double and one Twin Bedroom.

GRANARY (2 bedrooms: Sleeps 3 + 1 in 2-3 beds)
Character first-floor Apartment (above Owl) with attractive original beams and external stone steps with hand-rail.
Triple aspect open plan Sitting-Room with Dining Area and fully-fitted Kitchen offering pleasant views towards Levisham to the east and the Vale of Pickering to the south.
One Double and one Single Bedroom adaptable to a Twin Bedroom for a supplemental charge.

Leisure Suite Facilities:
Indoor Heated Pool, Spa and Sauna exclusive to Guests.

Directions
By Road From Malton:
(About 20 miles North East of the city of York, Via the A64) to Pickering - Come off the A64 at the A169 for Pickering.

From Pickering to Newton-on-Rawcliffe:
Approximately ¼ mile after entering the town speed limit, turn left at the roundabout towards the centre of Pickering along the A170 which links Thirsk to Scarborough.

After approximately 200 yards, turn right at the only set of traffic lights.
Follow this road for approximately 4 ½ miles to reach Newton-on-Rawcliffe.
Approx. 40 yards on right a pay & display car park - use this if you want to visit the (small) Safeway supermarket there or the tourist information centre on the opposite side of the road.

After a further 40 yards, a road from left and a road from right. Keep straight ahead!
Pass North York Moors Steam Railway Station on left, terraced housing on right.
Leave restricted speed limit and proceed to new bridge level crossing (about ½ mile away) under a canopy of trees, passing fish farm on left.

On entering Newton-on-Rawcliffe (speed restriction) you will find us approximately 300 yards on the right - facing the village green and just before the pub.
You will see the 'let's holiday' sign on the end of 'Mallard' cottage. just before this cottage is a concrete drive and before that is our 3-storey house.
Go up the drive and ring the doorbell on the right - where the 6 foot wooden fence meets the back of our house - to let us know you have arrived. Please note that we do not hear a knock on our front door!

Our 'Changeover Day' is Saturday - arrival time being after 4.00pm and departure time being by 10.00am.
