South House is a homely cosy Shetland Croft house, which sits on the Southern shores of Ronas Voe, about 50 yards from a beach and ruins of a historic fishing station.

The nearest house is about 100 yards away, and Ronas Voe itself is a haven of peace and tranquility, looked over by Shetland's largest hill, Ronas Hill.

The views are stunning from the house conservatory, and the house itself was sympathetically modernised in 1994, though there has been a house on this site for over 400 years.

The house has full central heating and was rewired and replumbed, but retains its old low ceilings and doors, optional rayburn oven and a stove in the living room.

Traditional but quirky! The house is warm enough without, but if you want to be especially roasty toasty, there is a supply of peat for chilly days and when the wind howls outside...

South House has 4 bedrooms; a double, two singles, and a twin children's loft ( low ceiling narrow steps), 2 reception rooms, 2 bathrooms both with baths and showers, conservatory and a balcony, with a spare double futon bed, We provide all linen, electricity and peat. We can provide a cot.

Although the bathrooms and some bedrooms are on the ground floor, this house was originally built for picts, who must have been less than 4ft6ins tall. Therefore there are the odd steps and very small extra narrow doorways unsuitable for wheelchairs.

There is an abundance of wildlife - Seals Otters and Arctic Terns can be seen at the beach.
