Torview
Holiday Cottage: 6219 Devon

Sampford Courtenay
Cottage's own web site
Torview is a self contained wing of the owners' property, where a warm welcome awaits but privacy is assured. It is in a quiet rural retreat with stunning views towards Dartmoor National Park. The property is set in spacious and pretty gardens on a 40 acre smallholding with its own patio and lawned garden area and a hot tub set in a private courtyard.

Torview is three miles from Okehampton, which has three supermarkets (Waitrose, Somerfield and Lidl) and a range of other shops, pubs, takeaways, etc. The nearest pub is the 16th century New Inn at Sampford Courtenay (2 miles), providing good home cooking and real ales.

Picture
There is easy access to fields that run down to the streams and lower pond, ideal for summer picnics, or for those just wanting to relax and watch the cattle and sheep (Lambs in the Spring). Varied wildlife often seen include red deer, badgers and foxes. Wild duck, Heron and Kingfishers visit both the garden and lower ponds. The area is popular with bird watchers.

Within an hours drive are both the North and South Devon and Cornwall coastlines, with spectacular towering cliffs, rocky shorelines and long stretches of sandy beaches. The area provides wonderful walking opportunities with the coastal footpaths and the famous Tarka Trail, which gives you many miles of safe track for both walking and cycling.

Away from the coast there are the wide open spaces of Dartmoor and Exmoor with their breathtaking scenery. Among many attractions are the Eden Project, RHS Rosemoor Gardens and for the children Crealy Park, The Milky Way and The Big Sheep. Water sports, fishing and golf are available locally.

Highlights
