Directions
From the M6 Southbound:
From Scotland travelling south on the M6, exit at junction 40 onto the A66 east, signposted Scotch Corner. Travel 3 miles past Bowes turn right into Rutherford Lane (signposted Scargill). Follow the lane for 1.5 miles, where the road forks, take the left fork and you arrive at Thwaites Cottages on your right-hand side.

From the M6 Northbound:
Heading north on the M6 exit at Tebay junction number 38, taking the A685 Kirkby Stephen and Scotch Corner. Travel through Kirkby Stephen staying on the A685 until you reach Brough. Turn right onto the A66 following signs for Scotch Corner. Continue for 3 miles past Bowes then take the right-hand turning onto Rutherford Lane (signposted Scargill). Follow the lane for 1.5 miles, where the road forks, take the left fork and you arrive at Thwaites Cottages on your right-hand side.

From the A1:
From the A1 at Scotch Corner take the A66 west, following signs for Barnard Castle. When you pass through Rokeby continue on the A66 for 1.4 miles, then take the left-hand turning onto Rutherford Lane (signposted Scargill). Follow the lane for 1.5 miles, where the road forks, take the left fork and you arrive at Thwaites Cottages on your right-hand side.
