From Glasgow:
Take the M8 towards Greenock and either:
Take the Erskine bridge (M898 and then the A82 Crianlarich road (left hand lane) off. Follow the A82 up Loch Lomond side
At Tarbet go straight ahead A82 (not the A83) towards Arrochar
At Arrochar go straight through towards Inverary going up and over the Rest & Be Thankful. Continue for about 2 - 3 miles.
On a particularly straight stretch of road you will see a junction. Turn off left onto the A815 (signed Cowal & Bute Ferry). Go straight through St Catherine's.
At Strachur, shortly after the Creggans Inn take the A886 to the right (main road bends to the left) sign posted Colintraive and Bute Ferry.
After a steep climb up you will see a sign saying you are in Glendaruel - but you still have about 10 miles to go. You will then see a sign for the Clachan - 8 miles and we are to be found on the right - one mile before the Clachan.
As you pass the sign for the Caravan park (to the right) you have a few hundred yards to go. You pass two white bungalows set off the road to the right, through the trees. At the second one you need to slow down. There is a cream B & B sign at an opening on the right. Take this opening and then the left fork.
Follow the track down to the white house ahead of you which is Ardachearnbeg.
Come through the gateway under the big fir trees and call at the house for keys etc.
Alternatively:
Stay on the M8 to Greenock going past the Cal-Mac ferry terminal and keep going straight on through Gourock to the Western Ferries terminal. This is faster, more frequent and less expensive than Cal-Mac. (You can buy well discounted ferry tickets in blocks of 2 or 10 at a red shop called 'Paul's Food and Wine Shop' on the left beside the [2nd ] Co-op in Gourock)
When you get off the ferry turn right on to the main road, A815, and follow the road round the coast until you come to the T junction at Sandbank.
Turn right, still A815. As you come out of Sandbank, just after the speed restrictions end, look for the B836 to the left signposted Glendaruel, Tighnabruaich, Colintraive. The main road bends to the right just at this turnoff.
Take this road on the left which is about 15 miles of single track road until the T junction at the end (buzzards and hawks like sitting on the telegraph poles n this road).
At the T junction with the A886, turn right towards Glendaruel
After you have passed the signs on the left for the Clachan of Glendaruel, the Kilmodan Stones and the hotel carry on for about one mile. You will pass a white house a new house on the left set back and down from the road and a stone bungalow, slightly above the road on the right.
A few hundred yards after these buildings there is a cream B & B sign at an opening on the left.
Turn left here and the take the left fork. Follow the track down to the white house straight ahead of you which is Ardachearnbeg.
(If you get as far as the Glendaruel Caravan Park (big sign) - you have gone about 300 yards too far. Turn round and take the first opening on the left
