Directions

From the South

Take the A1 bypassing Newcastle upon Tyne and heading north. About 15 miles north of Newcastle turn left on the A697 to Coldstream (also signposted Rothbury and Longhorsley).

Follow the A697 for about 35 miles bypassing Wooler. About 6 miles beyond Wooler you pass through Milfield; 150 yards after the village turn left onto a minor road signposted Mindrum and Howtel. The minor road twists for a mile to a crossroads. Turn left at the crossroads and a further ¾ mile brings you to Howtel.

From the North

Take the A68 from Edinburgh heading south. Turn left at Carfraemill Roundabout taking the A697 towards Coldstream. After passing through Cornhill-on Tweed take a right turn at the roundabout and head towards Morpeth. Pass the turn off to Ford and Etal and turn right at the junction signposted Howtel. Follow this road for around two miles until you reach Howtel. See map.
