Dove Cottage is a delightful character cottage nestling in a peaceful location in the historical market town of Barnard Castle. The cottage is only a short stroll from the town centre, which has numerous bars and restaurants. Great care has been taken in the refurbishment of this compact cottage to ensure a cosy and welcoming holiday.

Barnard Castle is a historic thriving market town, which developed in the protective shadow of Bernard Balliol's castle. Built on a fine defensive site in 1125, the castle itself is in the care of English Heritage and is open to the public.

The town of Barnard Castle is located at the gateway to Teesdale and is a perfect location for exploring by car the numerous attractions on offer in the North of England: Durham Cathedral, the unspoilt coastline and castles of Northumberland, Beamish Museum and the Lake District. Bowes Museum, which replicates a typical French Chateau is only 500 yards from the cottage and there are also excellent local walks and fishing.

The cottage comprises: Ground floor: Lounge/ Dining/ Kitchen. First floor: Master bedroom with double bed and colour TV, Second bedroom with 2'6" twins in small room particularly suitable for children. Shower room with shower and basin. Separate W.C.

Services: Heated by slimline wall mounted electric heaters, gas stove in the lounge area, colour TV with free view, DVD, radio/CD, electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with icebox.

Pebbled patio with garden furniture to the front of the house. All fuel, power, bed linen and towels included within the rent.

Two well behaved pets welcome but must be restricted to the ground floor rooms.

Shops 500 yards, Pubs /Restaurants 300 yards, Post Office 1/2 mile, bus stop 500 yards. Railway Station (Bishop Auckland) 15 miles.

Directions
The nearest train stations are at Bishop Auckland, which is 12 miles away or Darlington.
A local bus or taxi would then bring you to Barnard Castle.
If approaching by car the town is easily accessible from both the A1 and the A66.
Wood Street is situated just off Newgate, which is the main access road to the Bowes Museum.
Cars should be parked on Newgate itself as access to the cottage is up a small cobbled lane.
