Aylets' Annexe is a self contained, contemporarily furnished one bedroom home, behind a large village house. It is suitable for 2 people and is ideal for a walking or cycling holiday or just a simple weekend break in the country. It is on the edge of Barham Downs in a beautiful, quiet, rural location. There are many excellent walks within easy reach in this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Dover Ports and the Channel Tunnel at Folkestone are 15 minutes drive away. Barham itself has a church, shop/post office and a good pub. Canterbury, with its many attractions, is just 5 miles away.

The self contained annexe comprises:
Ground floor
  • A sitting/dining room with small kitchen area
  • Shower room and lavatory
  • Dressing area with additional hanging space/storage
  • The kitchen area is fully equipped and has oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment

    First Floor
    (approached via a spiral staircase)
    This is a large, light room with windows overlooking Barham Downs and the Elham Valley. The bedroom has two 3 foot single beds, ample hanging space and storage.

    Price includes: All linen, towels, heating and utilities.

    Outside
    There is an area of garden to the rear of the property for use by visitors. Table, chairs and BBQ are available. A shed for storing bicycles and drying facilities are also available on request.

    Extra Information:
    We regret that we cannot accept pets as pheasants rule the roost in our garden.
    We are keen to encourage green tourism and are working towards certification for that. We would be happy to arrange local bicycle hire for you.

    The owners would be delighted to provide you with a welcome pack of local produce to order.

    Directions
    By Car from Canterbury:
    Take the Wingham/Folkestone turn off the A2. go over motorway bridge as if going back to Canterbury. Take first left turn marked Elham/Barham. Go down road to cross roads. At cross roads, go straight across into Gravel Castle Road (one way system). Aylets is to be found at the bottom of the hill on the right hand side. House has large metal hop press outside the gate.

    By Bus from Canterbury Bus Station:
    Take the number 17 to Folkestone and ask the driver to tell you when you reach the Village Derringstone Hill. Before the hill turn left into Brickfields Lane. Walk along Brickfields Lane (5 Minutes)and turn left at junction into Gravel Castle Road. Walk up Gravel Castle Road (approx 3 minutes) we are first house on the left.

    Main station is Canterbury East(2 trains per hour).

    Spring and Autumn: £420.00.

    All times of year except Christmas to New Year.
    Long weekends Friday to Monday morning.
