Rock House Farm is a large farmhouse that sleeps up to 14 (+2 cots) in 4 bedrooms (double and 3 large family rooms). It has a large lounge and a sitting room. The dining room has a large table that seats 14 (+3 high chairs). It has a private garden at the back with patio furniture and a BBQ. Across the lane is our Childrens Adventure Playground with swings, slide, etc and woods to explore and build dens in.
With our four other cottages as well, we can accommodate very large groups of up to 34 (+3 cots).
It is set in the 100 acre Rock House Estate in the beautiful North Pennines. The area is relatively unknown and as a result is great to escape the crowds to unwind and chill out. The scenery is superb and is great for walking and other outdoor activities. You can put your walking boots on and walk up our land onto the fell without using your car! Nearby there is a lovely walk to a waterfall that you can walk behind.
It feels very rural and remote, but only a pleasant half hour drive away there is a large Tesco Extra, M&S and Waitrose! Really serious retail therapy is only an hour away at the MetroCentre (IKEA, Debenhams, M&S, House of Fraser, etc etc), or in Newcastle city centre
Locally, there are 2 lead mines that have underground tours, a steam railway, a narrow gauge steam railway, a local museum, and more!
Within an hour by car there are lots of places to visit: Hadrians Wall, Beamish Open Air Museum, Bowes Museum, Go Ape, Diggerland, Durham Cathedral and Castle, to name just a few.
The Lake District is only an hour away. It is beautiful, but it is overrun with holidaymakers and traffic. Guests are usually glad to get back to our unspoilt scenery and peace and quiet!
