Elmar is a four hundred year old period cottage complete with a massive Inglenook fireplace and bread oven situated in a quiet village location tucked away next to the ancient parish church just a mile away from the sea. Whilst the cottage comfortably sleeps four guests in two bedrooms, its character features, wood burning stove and coastal location make it an ideal romantic retreat for couples, including those who want to bring their dog away with them. Two pubs, two restaurants and a general store/Post Office compliment the village. Cubert is well located with easy access to Crantock beach, Polly Joke and Holywell Bay. The attractions of the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lands End are easily reached by car as are the famous fishing villages up and down the coast.
The surf capital of Britain, Newquay, is only five miles away with its world famous facilities. Cubert however is more suited to those seeking a more tranquil family holiday with very pretty walks to the beaches including Polly Joke which has recently been voted one of Britain’s best secret beaches.
Locally there are two pubs in the village including the picturesque Smugglers Den Inn, a delightful 16th Century Thatched Inn. There are two restaurants including Off Shore which is fast attracting National attention being carved into the hillside and offering unparalleled views of the North Cornish coastline as far as St Ives.
The Three local beaches are all within walkable distance of the cottage. Holywell Bay and Crantock Beach offer vast sandy bays with dunes, rock pools and caves to explore. In between is the gem that is Polly Joke, a gloriously natural beach surrounded by nothing more than National Trust headlands with a beautiful rugged coastline.
For walkers, join the South West coastal path which meanders through the three local beaches before rising up the magnificent headlands on its spectacular journey on this section of the coast. Good shore fishing locally, with charter boats available at Newquay
