Cottage's own web site
An Rubha (pronounced An Roo-ha) is a holiday cottage that sleeps 5-6 and is situated on the tiny car-free Island of Easdale on the west coast of Scotland 20 minutes south of the seaside town of Oban.

The cottage has 2 double bedrooms upstairs with an additional downstairs bedroom and sleeps 5-6 comfortably.

The house has a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, ironing board and iron, juicer and the kitchen is well equipped with utensils for cooking. The living area has a TV, DVD and VHS player and a CD player.

Easdale is the tiny island situated off the west coast of Scotland and lies in the Firth of Lorn. There is plenty to do for visitors or if you prefer, there is peace and quiet. To get across the 220 feet stretch of water that separates Easdale to Seil Island you get the small 10 person passenger ferry which takes approximately 3 minutes. There are no cars on the Island which makes the air quality noticably better than anywhere else in the UK.

Covering an area of around 10 hectares, Easdale Island is the smallest permanently inhabited island of the inner Hebrides with a population of around 60. Easdale has one hill which stands 122ft high and gives incredible views over the Firth of Lorn and several islands to the south. The fresh Atlantic air brings mild weather to the west coast of Scotland making for the perfect British holiday.

Once the centre of Scotland's slate mining industry, the picturesque island is dotted with still pools of clear blue water. These old quarries, some up to 300 feet deep, were filled after a big storm in 1881. One of these quarries plays annual host to the World's Stone Skimming Championship and Easdale now has its own slate museum run by volunteers.

There is a wide variety of bird life that inhabit the Island and a fabulous array of flora and forna. There is a community hall which reguarly hosts music nights and other events and also has its own bar where the friendly locals meet.

Highlights
  • The house is yards from the sea.
  • Overlooks Mull and the Firth of Lorn.
