Smithy House dates back to the 1700s and has retained much of its traditional charm and character. It is set in the old part of Stainton on the village green. First floor has a twin bedroom with built in wardrobe. The double bedroom has a four poster mahogany bed and matching wardrobe, superb buit in shower and hand basin. The bathroom has a shower, hand basin and WC.
Stainton is ideally placed to enjoy the Northern Lake District and the Eden Valley being only 3.5 miles from Pooley Bridge and Lake Ullswater.
Penrith a market town is only 10 minutes away, here there are a variety of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs and a large open air Saturday market. There are superb opportunities for mountain and road cycling. The owner has left a mountain bike in the shed for your use and suggests the ride to Mungrisedale, Pooley Bridge or off road along the old coach road to Keswick.
Walkers can attemp local walks, there is a lovely walk to the village of Dacre which has a pub. Serious walkers can attempt Blencathra and Helvelyn which are only a short car drive away.
Stainton has a village pub, hotel,post office,local farm shop and a church and the Rheged Discovery Centre is within walking ditance.

Directions
Exit the M6 at junction 40 and join the A66 sign posted Keswick. At the roundabout turn left signposted for Dalemain which is immediately after the entrance to Rheged Visitor Centre. Continue for approximately ΒΌ of a mile and turn right to Stainton. Proceed into the village, turn left at the cross roads, past the public house on the right and the Brantwood Hotel of the left. Upon approaching the village green bear right and the property is situated on the left just after the telephone kiosk.
