Valley View Farm Cottages consists of six stone built cottages with one, two or three bedrooms, located in the peaceful and picturesque village of Old Byland on a family farm. There are good places to visit with the coast, York, or just beautiful countryside only a short distance away.

Couch Cottage is a one bedroom cottage (sleeps 2) which opens onto a courtyard with an amazing view. It has a zip and link bed (twins/kingsize) and is all on the ground floor. The kitchen and living room are open plan. The en-suite bathroom is a wet-room and suitable for disabled access.

Drey Cottage is a two bedroom cottage (sleeps 4) with one double and one twin bedroom. Both rooms have en-suite facilities. The double bedroom has a shower and the twin room has a bath. This cottage can connect to Holt Cottage to make a 10-person family cottage.

Holt Cottage is a three bedroom cottage (sleeps 6) with sitting room, dining area and kitchen upstairs. One twin room with en-suite bathroom is upstairs and one downstairs along with a bathroom (with bath and shower) and a double bedroom with a shower room.

Granary Cottage is a spacious three bedroom cottage which can sleep 6. The kitchen/dining room and living room are downstairs, as is a twin room with en-suite wet room and a separate WC. Upstairs are two bedrooms, one a twin with en-suite bath and shower and the other a kingsize bedroom with bath and shower.

Form Cottage is a compact one bedroom ground floor cottage (sleeps 2) with a kingsize bed and a modern bathroom with bath and shower.

Formicary Cottage is a compact one bedroom ground floor cottage with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. There is a breakfast bar area and the living room also has a double sofa bed. Sleeps 2-4.

Each cottage has an open fire, central heating, a cooker, fridge-freezer, washer-dryer, TV, DVD and free-view. All bed-linen, towels, crockery and cutlery is provided. Pets are welcome.

All guests have access to the main patio area, with garden furniture. There is plenty of off road parking next to the cottages but for those of you who don't want to drive everywhere, there are plenty of scenic walks in the area. Activities in the area include walking, cycling, swimming, theme park rides at Flamingoland, train rides on the North York Moors and beach walks at Scarborough or Whitby.
Local Services: The local shops are 5 miles away in Helmsley. The nearest supermarket is Tescos at Thirsk, 9 miles away. Alternatively your groceries delivered to the door. There are petrol stations in both Helmsley and at Thirsk.
There are plenty of tearooms in the area. You can hardly fail to find one to satisfy you. For tea and an afternoon out, try the Walled Garden in Helmsley, homemade cakes and great hot chocolate, or take a ride over the moors and finish off with tea at the Moors Centre Danby and a walk. For an old fashioned hotel style tea try the Grange at Lastingham after paying a visit to the famously pretty village of Hutton le Hole (which also has a pet-friendly pub and a museum). Or for an adventure, go to Trenchers or The Magpie in Whitby for the fish and chips of a lifetime.

Directions
By Car:
Leave the A1 by the A168, junction 49, to Thirsk, and then follow the Scarborough & East Coast road, the A170. Seven miles out of Thirsk the road climbs steeply up Sutton Bank, at the top take a left turn signed Old Byland 3 miles.
