Runie Lodge

Ullapool
Cottage's own web site
Runie Lodge was built in 1851 as the local school and schoolhouse. It ceased being a school in 1941 and has since been refurbished, retaining original stone features, oak beams, stairs, floors and opens fires, providing a luxury self-catering accommodation with spacious rooms. The lodge has a tranquil, peaceful feel and is the ideal location to relax and unwind.

The house is set in a beautiful location among pine and larch trees. The River Kanaird winds its way around the bottom of the safe enclosed 3/4 acre garden.

The Lodge is situated with views to the dramatic Ben Mhor Coigach mountain ridge in the crofting community of Blughasary, just 7 miles north of Ullapool and is ideally situated for exploring the north west coast of the Highlands. It is the perfect place to return to after a day on the hills or beaches.

The Lodge is fully equipped to a very high standard and can comfortably accommodate 7 adults; there is also plenty of space for an additional child bed or cot.

The old schoolroom is the main sitting room, on the wall hangs a photograph of the teacher and the children who were taught here in 1936. This wonderfully spacious room has an oak floor and beams, original stonewall, wood burner and comfy sofas - a homely place to reflect over the day and relax.

The dining room and library is a large and well appointed room with great views to the mountains. It houses a large dining table with an open fire to sit by to read all those books. For the musical guests there is a piano.

The kitchen has been completely refurbished in 2009. It is a large room with a range style cooker, an island unit and an eating area.

There are 4 bedrooms, 2 very large rooms both with king size beds, a twin room and a single room, all are well furnished with plenty of storage areas.

On the ground floor there is a shower room and on the first floor there is a large bathroom with roll top bath.
The utility room houses the washing machine and facilities to dry clothes.
